BRIDGEPORT — A car initially reported to have been stolen caught ablaze on Birmingham Avenue early Monday, in keeping with a metropolis official.
Bridgeport resident Marie Henry went out to get the newspaper when she observed a flickering from below the hood of a more moderen Mazda parked throughout the road. She referred to as 911 and hearth personnel shortly responded.
Terron Jones, the deputy director of town’s Workplace of Emergency Administration and Homeland Safety, stated dispatchers had been notified of the fireplace simply after 5:35 a.m. Monday and firefighters shortly extinguished the blaze. The car was initially reported to be stolen out of Westport, Jones stated.
There have been no reported accidents, in keeping with Jones. Henry stated it didn’t seem that anybody was contained in the car, although the driving force’s facet door had been left ajar.
Henry stated the flames shot up as excessive as the electrical wires.
“It’s simply so scary seeing this factor sort of actually catch on,” she stated. Although the fireplace destroyed the car, Henry was grateful it didn’t harm anything.
“It might’ve been worse,” she added.
The Bridgeport Hearth Division is investigating the incident, Jones stated.
