Affordable EV incoming, the Ora Good Cat is about to launch in Singapore
Ora announced earlier this year that it’s entering the Singapore market and that it will make its debut here in Q3 with the Good Cat – its compact hatchback EV. Well, that time has now come.
The Good Cat will be launching in Singapore in early August and it will give readers looking to get into EVs another affordable option.
Like many other affordable EVs, Ora hails from China and is part of the Great Wall Motor group. According to the group, Ora stands for “Open, Reliable, and Alternative” and the brand prides itself on its funky designs and names – it names all of its cars cats.
We don’t know what will the specs of the Good Cat be here in Singapore but it’s typically available either with a 107kW or 128kW motor in other markets.
This means the lower-powered version will meet the criteria for a lower-priced Cat A COE here in Singapore.
The smallest battery that the Good Cat comes with is a 47.8kWh unit that Ora claims is good for a range of around 400km.
And the largest battery it comes with is a 63.1kWh unit that’s delivers up to 500km of range.
Apart from the Good Cat, Ora also makes the Ballet Cat – a larger, mid-size hatchback – and the Lightning Cat – which, unsurprisingly, is their high-performance EV.
Pricing and availability
Local pricing and availability details have yet to be confirmed but we will update this section once we know more.
That said, according to industry experts, the Ora Good Cat will likely retail at under S$180,000 inclusive of COE and all VES rebates. This will make it competitive against the likes of BYD’s Dolphin and Atto 3.
