Ford announced major changes to its hands-free highway driver assist system, BlueCruise.
Any Ford owner can put the hardware to the test with a 90-day free trial on select Ford and Lincoln vehicles. After the trial, owners can purchase the software on a subscription basis. Subscriptions will cost $75 monthly, $800 yearly or $2,100 for three years. The three-year option will only be available to Ford clients. In comparison, Lincoln clients will have a four-year option.
On the Ford side, we will see BlueCruise come standard on Mustang Mach E, higher trims of the Ford F-150, F-150 Lightning and the Expedition.
On the Lincoln side, the following vehicles will have access: the Lincoln Navigator, some trims of the Corsair and the Nautilus.
BlueCruise launched back in 2021 on the Mustang Mach-E. Since its launch, Ford has made significant tweaks and is now on version 1.3 of the software. New Mach-E’s have 1.3 installed as their base, while older models, along with the F-150 and F-150 Lightnings with the software, will see an over-the-air update in the coming weeks.
This change will provide over 500,000 vehicles with BlueCruise in the 2024 model year, with plans to expand the software to more vehicles in the 2025 model year and beyond.
