Following three rounds of voting by 50 members of the print, TV, and digital media within the U.S. and Canada, the North American Automobile, Truck, and Sport Utility of the 12 months awards have been introduced. The NACTOY awards are celebrating their thirtieth anniversary in 2024.
Winner of the North American Automobile of the 12 months is the Toyota Prius/Prius Prime. Truck of the 12 months is the Ford Tremendous Responsibility, and the successful SUV is the Kia EV9.
NACTOY jurors (full disclosure: I’m on the jury) narrowed their picks down from 52 eligible automobiles to a preliminary listing of 25, introduced in September on the Detroit Auto Present. After a trip and drive of the semi-finalists, the listing was narrowed to 9 automobiles, three in every class, introduced on the Los Angeles Auto Present.
The opposite finalists in these courses: The Honda Accord and Hyundai Ioniq 6 (automobile), the Chevrolet Colorado and Chevrolet Silverado EV (truck), and the Genesis Electrified GV70 and Hyundai Kona (SUV).
“Our winners mirror the truth that a contemporary automobile should be a mixture of fashion, utility, and expertise,” stated NACTOY president Jeff Gilbert. “I commend our 50 jurors for arising with some wonderful selections.”
