The newest Ferrari hypercar was recently spotted conducting testing under camouflage — and it looks pretty hardcore.

It’s been a decade since Ferrari debuted its LaFerrari hypercar, and it’s nearly time for a successor to be unveiled. New spy photos of the Ferrari F250 have emerged from HotCars photographer Brian Williams, showing an aggressive aero kit and jagged styling. Hard details are still scarce, but the new hypercar looks like it’s playing for keeps.

Ferrari’s newest hypercar project, dubbed the F250, has been spotted conducting testing in and around the manufacturer’s hometown of Maranello. While it’s exciting to see a new Ferrari hypercar on the road, there aren’t too many details to see since it’s cloaked in camouflage.

What the photos do show is what appears to be a hefty aerodynamics package. A massive rear wing, a smattering of side air ducts, and a large rear splitter imply a heavy influence from Ferrari’s motorsport division. That’s no surprise, as the F250 is supposed to showcase Ferrari’s peak engineering capabilities.

While these camouflaged images may provide a glimpse at the overall shape of the Ferrari 250, it’s smart to take it with a grain of salt. Test mules often used different body cladding from production models to throw off prying eyes. It’s likely the new hypercar could look significantly different when it debuts.

Once development is complete, the Ferrari F250 will pick up where the LaFerrari left off as the brand’s premier performance car.

Introduced in 2013, the LaFerrari used a hybrid powertrain that combined a naturally-aspirated V12 and a battery-electric system. The result was one of Ferrari’s fastest and most acclaimed performance cars. Its combined 950 horsepower and 9,500-rpm redline made it a hit among critics — even if it was limited to just 499 units.

The new F250 will likely take some cues from its elder sibling. Expectations are set for a high-powered hybrid powertrain, ultra-lightweight engineering, and a limited production run. Unlike its predecessor’s V12, the F250 will probably use a turbocharged V6 in tandem with an advanced hybrid-electric system. Ferrari certainly has plenty of experience developing these types of powertrains with its Formula 1 team.

Like the LaFerrari, the F250 probably won’t be a high-volume model for the brand. Its production will likely stop well under a thousand units, and buyers will probably be pre-selected by Ferrari itself. Ferrari has not released a specific timeline for the full debut of the F250. However, the brand has indicated that the hypercar could show itself as soon as autumn 2024.
