Kia Sportage GT-Line order pause lifted, latest wait times in Australia

Order books have re-opened in Australia for the top-of-the-range Kia Sportage GT-Line family SUV after a three-month pause – however most wait times remain at least seven months or more.

Kia Australia has advised the pause on new orders for the Sportage GT-Line – the most expensive and best-equipped variant, which accounted for 40 per cent of sales last year – confirmed in May 2023 has been lifted.

The company says its “focus” remains on clearing existing backorders, and that production across the entire Sportage range is forecast “to improve over the coming months.”

A Kia Australia spokesperson told Drive customers who order a cheaper Sportage S, SX and SX+ today can expect an estimated wait of about four months – or November production, plus shipping from South Korea.

“As a generalised guideline, customers should anticipate around seven months for a Sportage GT-Line diesel and longer for the petrol variant,” the spokesperson said.

These delivery times are estimations, as production schedules vary regularly, and wait lists can vary between dealers.

The Kia Sportage range is priced from $32,795 to $52,720 plus on-road costs.
