Will There Be A 2024 Honda Civic Type R? What We Know So Far

It’s been over 25 years since Honda first blessed us with a Civic Type R, in the shape of the iconic EK9. Since then, some things have remained a constant, like the signature red rocker cover, or equally recognizable Championship White paint.

Markets are changing though, and even performance cars with rich histories are needing to adapt, to stay relevant for current consumers. Main Competition: Acura Integra

To first understand what Honda could be working on, it makes sense to first look at what their competition currently is. The 2024 Acura Integra Type S is currently making waves in the car community, being heralded as a ‘comfortable Civic Type R’, and Honda must provide a compelling package in their 2024 Type R, to tempt buyers back their way.

Top Anticipated Features:

• The Acura benefits from a striking set of 19″ NSX-inspired alloy wheels, dazzling JewelEye LED headlights, and a seriously cool exclusive yellow color, dubbed Tiger Eye Pearl. Honda can be expected to offer such tweaks on the 2024 Civic Type R, to compete with the Acura’s impressive style.
• Driving enthusiasts are rejoicing, because
  the Acura Integra Type S comes equipped with a slick 6-speed manual gearbox

The Civic Type R has never been shy of performance, and while no official figures have been discussed or released from Honda yet, the specs of a 2024 release could be speculated upon, by visiting those of the current model.

Progression is both natural and expected, so both power and torque figures are likely to increase marginally, allowing for both a higher top speed, and quicker 0 to 60 mph time. A slight increase in weight would also stay true to most new releases and redesigns, although Honda will be keen to keep any additional weight at a minimum; expect no more than a 50-lb increase.

It’s not out of the question for Honda to be exploring some significant changes about how this power is delivered though, so the layout of the 2024 Honda Civic Type R is difficult to predict.

1 Does Honda Have A Surprise In Store?

Diehard fans of the Civic Type R would say a huge redesign from hatchback to SUV would never even be a possibility for the brand, after all, it’s a recipe that has changed little since the EK9 of 1997.
