Toyota has used the Crown name since 1955, and it’s been sold globally ever since, but our initial version of it arrived in Canada in 1965 and left in 1972.
Now it’s back as Toyota’s top sedan. It takes over from the Avalon that was discontinued after 2021, but it’s no relation to it, instead riding on a newly-developed chassis. This top-luxo spot hasn’t been a huge seller for Toyota, but the Crown could easily be cross-shopped against pricier models from Lexus.
