The new $121K G87-chassis BMW M2 is a pretty different car to the old M2. It’s half a segment larger, it’s $10,000 more expensive, and it’s not especially light. As we said: it’s different. It could almost have a different badge entirely.

But all of those changes (and more) have made the M2 a far more sophisticated car and a better vehicle to drive on complex Australian country roads. It’s seriously quick but also settled and compliant thanks to the S58 engine and a new adaptive suspension.
