The PGMOL has launched audio conversations between Video Assistant Referee officers laying naked the panic that set in after Luis Diaz’s purpose was wrongly disallowed throughout Liverpool’s defeat at Tottenham.
Var Darren England is heard saying “oh f—” seconds after play restarted, having mistakenly thought Diaz’s purpose had been given by the on-field officers.
England checked for offside considering the purpose had been given, as mentioned test full after replays confirmed Diaz was clearly onside. On-pitch referee Simon Hooper took that as his cue to renew play with a Spurs free-kick.
England then repeats that he “can’t do something” as soon as play was restarted as colleagues urge that the sport be paused.
Liverpool had been despatched the audio by the Premier League on Tuesday.
