The male driver told the CHP he was involved in a “Hit & Run” accident, had driven off the freeway, and went head-on into a tree. The firefighters extricated the male from the wreckage, and he suffered major injuries. He was transported to Mercy Hospital for unknown injuries. The CHP is investigating. It’s unknown what other vehicle may have been involved.
UPDATE:
The driver was arrested for DUI at the hospital.
